TTHA History

The Texas Trophy Hunter Association began in 1975 when Jerry Johnston decided to organize a group that would bring together "he most serious and passionate deer hunters everywhere -- to learn from each other, to share hunting stories and skills, to improve our wildlife and habitat, and to work together to protect and promote our hunting heritage for future generations" (www.ttha.com).  Today, Texas Trophy Hunters has over ten thousand members and is known all over the world as the most respectable and prestigious deer hunting organization.

The Texas Trophy Hunter Association has helped to restore the quality of the deer herd in Texas and has helped secure and defend the rights of hunters in Texas.

It is safe to say that anybody who has hunted deer in Texas has reaped the benefits of the Texas Trophy Hunter Association and what it has given to Texas.

TamuTTHA History

The Texas A&M Chapter of the Texas Trophy Hunters Association was started in the sprig of 2000 as a 10 member club, no banquet, and no sponsors. Then a guy named Rusty Baker came along and decided that he would make the idea work. And boy did he ever. October of 2002 was the chapters first banquet and it really got the club going. An estimated 400 people attended with 17 hunts being auctioned off.

In 2003 the banquet grew even more and the chapter signed its 700th member. Today Rusty is no longer the president, but if it was not for Rustys hard work and perseverance, the chapter would not exist today.
